Odd Time Signatures

If music is the soul of the universe, then math is the poetry trying to describe the meaning of the universe. After all math is descriptive in both form and purpose. No surprise then that when it came time to describe music, to record it, to replicate it, math became the chosen shorthand just as it was chosen for describing shapes, or physical consequences of apples falling off trees. For more on the long relationship of math and music read a great book, "The Music of the Spheres." For now just know that by manipulating one, you invariably affect a change on the other.
