Immigration.

You know. I've been thinking. When I lived in North Carolina way back when I was 19 years old I worked in a grocery store. Once a month a bus would pull up and someone could always be heard saying, "It's MFW day!"

Migrant Farm Workers. Illegal Aliens brought to the USA by farmers or the conglomerates that own their farms (?)to work very very hard for nearly no money at all...just sub standard housing and the monthly trip to the big Farm Fresh.

They ran in...stocked up..and ran out. They were pretty much treated like animals.

Maybe Ive missed something. I mean I work alot so it is possible that someone held the Corporate Giants responsible (for locking mexicans up in Big 18 Wheeler trucks) to task for law breaking in exchange for cheap unregulated labour.

Right?

So is the question really should we seal up our borders and keep everyone out? I think Corporate America owes an apology. Seriously. I wondered how long it was going to take the Latino community to say something. How long were they going to allow this to go on.

How long were they going to keep jumping the border to work in such conditions? What is it that is here that is so much better?

Is it just propaganda when they say that Americans won't make goods or work high labour jobs if given the opportunity?

Or is it that Americans won't work for 5 pennies a day? In factories that are lethal? What is really at the heart of this issue????

If you bring someone into your business...they should be treated fairly..not taken advantage of. There are proper channels for citizenship and we should encourage anyone willing to withstand this culture the right to attain that citizenship.

Where we fall short is in allowing Corporations (WaL Mart for instance) to buy their way out of Accountability. There is a stunning number of working poor in this country...natural citizen and otherwise; without the ethical and fair support of the corporate community (which, let's face it, is a monster now... a huge one) that group will continue to grow.

We will "Greed" ourselves out of fair housing. We will "Greed" our lacking urban and rural School Districts out of good educators.

No work without fair pay. No work without the protection that all americans rely on.

I am very torn. I will admit it. If there was work in Canada and none here...what would I do? Why do they keep coming here...expecting work and money....what are we doing as a culture to support this situation?

If someone was going to pay me $300 a week under the table...and my family was starving...would I be just like any other border jumper?

I guess my final view is that Corporate America needs to stop being the Bad Pimp on the street treating their Illegal Employees to unfair and unethical treatment in exchange for a job done.

If you can't be fair then Leave Them Alone.

We could take a lesson from all of those people that protested---imagine if we were all that stirred up---what kinds of changes could be made?

Until we are all held accountable as a nation, a culture, and a corporate monarchy----people will continue to push their own personal limits in order to survive.

sorry if this is a bit scattered. :)

Love and Peace
